Jenna Johnston is 17 years old and a proud member of KÜHL’s Development Cycling Team. She was born in Monterey, California, and moved around the US before landing in Clearfield, Utah. Jenna_Clouds   How Did You Get into Cycling? When I lived in Florida my family and I raced and rode motocross. When we moved to Utah we got into mountain biking. Now I also race XC mountain bikes and road bikes. It's so exciting to get out and ride with great friends and family. I love getting out and pushing my limits to reach new goals. What Makes You a Kuhl Kid? How Do You Live the Mountain Culture? I'm a KÜHL Kid because I live in the mountains, and I'm inseparable from my bikes. I love everything outdoors, and if I’m inside I'm often daydreaming about my bikes and riding. Jenna_Mountains   What’s Your Most Memorable Adventure? My most memorable adventure was a few years ago in one of my first races clipped into my pedals. I was riding along and had a huge lead. As I started to climb this little hill my front tire hit a rock, and it threw my bike and me off the trail. I couldn't unclip fast enough, and I fell off the side of the cliff still connected to my bike. A tree caught me about 6 feet down. I was pinned, my arms under my bars and feet stuck in my clips. A few minutes went by, and I heard the 2nd place girl go by. I shouted for help, but she didn't hear me. Eventually a boy saw me, and he stopped. "What are you doin' down there?" he asked. “I'm stuck! Please pull my bike off me," I replied. He laughed, helped me up, and rode off. I didn't win that race but I left with a cool story! I just wish I could remember who the heck that boy was! Jenna_Ledge If You Could Adventure Anywhere in the World, Where Would You Go? If I had a few weeks to go anywhere I would go to Africa and just explore a new culture. Who Inspires You? Emily Batty is my hero. She races for Trek Canada, and one day I hope to be just like her. Meeting her would be pretty cool too. What’s Your Favorite Piece of Gear? I'm a safety nut and love feeling protected, so my favorite piece of gear is my helmet. What’s Your Worst Habit? On the bike, I  look at my front tire a lot. Off the bike, I mother my friends. Best way to end a first date? Putting the bikes away. Jenna_Sunset What’s hot/what’s not? What's hot is someone loving their family and friends. What’s not is someone showing off and being rude to loved ones. Do you have any pets? Do you take them on your adventures? I have 3 dogs: Roxi, the Chihuahua; Oscar, the daschund; and Emma the cocker spaniel. They love to go hiking every Sunday with my dad and me. What’s the worst injury you sustained from adventuring and how did you recover? My handle bar went into my ribs after a crash, and I cracked 3 of them! I was training for triathlons at the time, so my recovery was spent laying on a kick board for a few months. What the fastest speed you’ve ever gone under your own power, assisted by gravity? I hit 42 mph on my road bike, but I have never hit that number again. It's hard for a skinny girl like me to get going super fast! Jenna_Race What’s your favorite thing about Kuhl? My favorite thing about KÜHL is all the development kids feel like one big family. What’s your favorite piece of KÜHL clothing? What do you use it for? My favorite piece of KÜHL clothing is my Kuhl blue kits. They are used every day, and I never leave the house without my amazing kits If your best friend already had your favorite piece of KÜHL gear, what would you recommend to her? If my BFF already has an amazing kit, I would recommend the Kendra shorts. They are great for hiking, biking, or just hanging out.
