Tim Stack resides in Salt Lake City and is a member of the KÜHL Masters Cx Team. His son Peter is following in his footsteps...and pedals. TimStack_1 What's your most memorable adventure? Back in the day I was the typical “dirt bag” climber, and as such had many of the typical “dirt bag” climber types of adventures. Most memorable may have been a spring break ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite. Surprisingly (at least to us), it is still winter in Yosemite during spring break, something we failed to realize or plan for adequately. We had the whole rock to ourselves but did not have much protection from the very non “spring break” type weather. This certainly went down as character building type 3 fun. If you could adventure anywhere in the world for a week or two, where would you go? Cyclocross in Belgium during the Christmas Cross season of races. Who inspires you? Sven Nys: Still winning World Cup bike races as he approaches 40 years old. He still puts the hurt on the young’uns half his age. Peter Stack: My son is a member of the unofficial Kuhl Junior team. He was offered an almost full sponsorship from another team but turned it down to wear my hand-me-down KUHL skinsuit. Lately at races I only get acknowledged as “Peter’s dad” when crossing the start/finish. To tell you the truth it chokes me up a little when I hear it. The kid always goes hard even when off the back of a race. Not once has he made the car ride home after a race without fully crashing in his seat. His level of stoke is enough to keep me pushing on. PeterStack_1 PeterStack_StartLine What’s your worst habit? The one I'm willing to make public: Too much time looking at CX and climbing sites while at work. What's your favorite food and drink after an adventure? Sitting in Mark Fisher's team sprinter van after racing with a pint of whatever Epic Brewing sent along. What's hot/what's not? I'm going to refer you to my teenage daughter. She is much more interested in this topic than I am, and she has made it clear that I'm in the “not” category. Do you have any pets? Do you take them on your adventures? We have a Pomeranian. She's so little that just going in the backyard is an adventure. What's the worst injury you sustained from adventuring and how did you recover? Bumped, bruised, cut and scraped up plenty but feel super grateful to have stayed mostly healthy (knocking on wood now). What’s your favorite thing about KÜHL? I love supporting a Utah company! When I see that little blue logo in my closet, I don’t even have to think; I just grab whatever it is and am good for the day. What’s your favorite piece of KÜHL clothing? How do you use it? Men's merino sweater that I wear all day every day during winter. Seriously I put it on in the morning take it off just before bed. The folks I work with don’t recognize me when I don’t have it on. I probably should wash it a bit more often... It's been through four winters, and I cannot believe the wear and tear it has survived. I'm thinking of replacing it with the Downhill Racr, but I'm a little sad about it. If your best friend already had your favorite piece of KÜHL gear, what would you recommend to him/ her that functions just as well playing outside as it does in the bar at the end of the day? The new Spyfire down jacket will most likely be my next KÜHL purchase. After just trying it on, I'd recommend it to anyone.
