Flannel. The look and feel of fall’s favorite fabric stirs the senses.
Warmth. Comfort. A broad-shouldered man stoking the campfire.
Or, better yet, offering you a perfectly toasted marshmallow with a heartbreaking smile.
Yes, flannel is synonymous with the outdoorsman. Masculinity and sensibility weaved together for the perfect combination of strength and style.
But can flannel be feminine?
Despite seeing college co-eds and young moms pairing flannel with their knee-high boots, the crazy colors and shapeless form left me unconvinced.
Klara Long Sleeve Flannel Review
The Hollowcore flannel fabric was luxuriously soft. The Indigo colors were rich and warm. But how would the Klara fit? Would it be another boxy miss?
Could KÜHL make a women’s flannel shirt that was feminine and fitted?
By now I should know the answer is always a resounding ‘Yes!’
Once again KÜHL created a beautiful garment that combines performance with panache.
What I Love
Hollowcore Flannel Fabric
KÜHL’s technical Hollowcore flannel captures your body heat in the hollow strands of the fabric for added warmth and protection. At the same time, the insulating fabric is extremely lightweight, so the shirt isn’t heavy or bulky.
The 100% Hollowcore Polyester is stretchy, so you won’t feel constricted. This flannel wraps you in comfort while leaving you free to roam.
Soft Proluxe Lining
The Klara Long Sleeve shirt features KÜHL’s Soft Proluxe knit lining in the yoke, collar stand, and cuffs for added comfort and resistance to wear at key points.
Long lasting and super soft, the Soft Proluxe lining features a complementary hue that adds a splash of color when you roll up your sleeves or unbutton your collar.
You’ll be melting more than marshmallows around the campfire in this sophisticated women’s shirt.
Designed with strategically placed darts, the KÜHL Klara is not the shapeless flannel of seasons past. Front, back, and bust darts create a flattering, feminine fit that works with your curves.
I paired the Klara with the Riot Pant (full review). Hitting right at the hip, the length is not too short or long.
The Little Things
Decorative, custom metal buttons. Two chest pockets. Warm, rich colors that don’t fade with wash and wear.
Once again, KÜHL’s attention to detail takes even the simplest attire to the next level.
What I Didn’t Love
Retailing at $79, the Klara is more than I would normally spend on a flannel. But the combination of performance features, supreme comfort, and the durability of KÜHL apparel make it easy to splurge.
The fitted style makes it difficult to layer this flannel over anything more substantial than a thin cami or tank. True to size, you may want to consider ordering up if you want to wear the Klara over a long-sleeve shirt like the Vega Henley or Mia Thermal. I’m wearing an XS, but I’d consider ordering a small for winter layering.
Making the Grade
Beautifully designed and tailored to fit a woman’s body, Kuhl’s Klara Long Sleeve shirt earns a solid B+.
Button down tops are not usually my first choice; I often opt for a pullover like the Ana Hoody or Lea Pullover. But the Klara flannel is so cozy and comfortable it’s become a staple in my fall wardrobe.
Whether you’re gathered around the campfire or running around town, KÜHL’s feminine take on flannel will become your fall favorite.
I received KÜHL apparel for this review at no cost. I received no other compensation for this post, and all opinions are my own.
Editor’s Note: The KÜHL Klara LS is such a fall favorite that it sold out online! Check your local retailer or consider KÜHL’s other great long-sleeved options for women.
