One look at the KÜHL SPYFIRE® JACKET and you realize it's different by design, construction and features than any other down sweater that has come before it. The SPYFIRE SERIES combines unique fabrics, precision design, and thermal body mapping to deliver technical performance and unparalleled style.
Three unique fabrics differentiate the SPYFIRE SERIES, and each fabric is engineered for a specific purpose. The water resistant and windproof shell is sourced from a superior Japanese mill that uses a 20 denier, 24 high filament nylon fabric for a softer feel and higher tear strength. The yarn is woven into an extremely tight weave that’s dense enough to increase the down proof-ness and tear strength. Strategically placed self-overlay on body front and sleeves provides extra protection from the elements.
The soft shell reinforced fabric on the shoulders allows you to carry skis or equipment with sharp edges that would shred any ordinary down sweater. Lightweight underarm knit panels allow heat to escape for better climate control and comfort in a wide range of temperatures. The ethically sourced (non-force-fed/not ‘live-plucked’) 800-fill goose down provides a superior warmth-to-weight ratio.
The SPYFIRE HOODY features 2 zippered chest pockets, 2 zippered hand pockets, 1 zip pocket on the sleeve, and an inside mesh pocket. Custom reflective ribbon below the zippers prevents snags and increases visibility in the dark.
Built with different sized baffles, the SPYFIRE HOODY boasts superior warmth where you need it. The thinner, sized-down baffles on the inside underarm panels provide a contoured fit and reduce bulk for better layering under a heavier shell. The precision 3D fit naturally follows your body’s shape, and the intricate construction eliminates binding typically found on the inside seams of jackets.

I got my SpyFire hoody at the start of this winter. I live deep in the Catskills of New York and work outside everyday. I've found the spy fire hoody to be an excellent layer for underneath a shell when I purchased the hoody I thought it was going to be a much thicker fill and possibly a jacket all on its own (based on price). I was mistaken but not disappointed (a grams per square inch rating would be helpful) because the weight to warmth ratio of this down hoody is awesome it weighs what seems like nothing and packs well into its own hood. This hoody has become a staple piece of gear for me and I often don't leave home with out it, it is clutch to throw on when you start to feel your core temp dropping the spy fire will quickly trap in your internal furnace's heat. The only draw backs I've noticed are the lack of kuhl's signature thumb holes which would just be cool to have but really not a deal breaker and the fact that the pockets are totally uninsulated, fleece lining would be nice but would ad weight or having the pockets go inside of the down layer instead of only having a thin layer of nylon between my hands and the cold. other then those few drawbacks I love the Spyfire hoody it will be in my pack for overnight and extended trips this summer and will continue to be go to piece of gear for me in the shoulder seasons as well it seems to be holding up really well so I look forward to years of use.

Just received my Sky fire jacket and I am really happy with the purchase. The jacket is an athletic fit and not bulky. The stitching appears to be great quality. Looking forward to wear this jacket during my upcoming camping trip.

This isn't for printing - but I wanted to let your designers know that the chest pockets seems slightly "shallow"? Every time I forget to zip up, my phone drops into the snow. A slightly deeper pocket (or shorter zipper) might make a big improvement?

This jacket is great for average daily use and layering under a more technical shell. The large was true to size for a 6’1” 180lb male. The hood is a great fit and provides protection without completely obstructing the peripherals even without the use of the cords. It should be noted the hood will not fit over a helmet. When performing more strenuous activities the arms and sides did provide good venting with and without a shell. If hauling a backpack around town or you have shredded that outer layer into a pack and are carrying skis the re-enforced shoulders are nice. Not one exterior pocket is cut to be underneath the down or lined. The elastic waist and true to fit sleeves will ride up. All in all this is a great layering jacket that will compliment a more technical shell, but will not perform as needed on the mountain by itself. Pros: Compact fit in torso Strong build 800 fill Re-enforced high abrasion areas Excellent hood Lots of pockets Lightweight Good venting Cons: Exterior pockets not insulated Interior mesh pocket not safe for electronics if active Elastic waist and sleeves will ride up

I live in minnesota, and checked out a bunch of stuff at ***. Needing a good warm jacket I was a bit skeptical that this Spyfire Hoody would be warm enough. As the temp has dipped (8 degrees this morning) Its worked just fine. Its usually whatever else I'm wearing that is cold, but not in the jacket. Extremely lightweight, looks sleek instead of like I'm wearing a life jacket, and put the hood up and I'm never cold. One tiny thing is that I'm tall and skinny, so I personally wouldn't mind a bit of a longer sleeve on the medium, but then I'm just being selfish. Great Jacket.

Love this jacket. I've been living in it since I got it :) It's light weight, super warm and packs up great in a carry-on or small backpack. I put that it "Fit's Small" only because the sleeves are a bit short. I wear a size small in all of Kuhl's upper body attire, and most everything fits just right. The sleeves on the Spyfire Hoodie are not as true to size as other items. But I still love this jacket.
REPLY FROM KÜHL: Thanks for the five star review Kday. Can't see we agree with you on the short sleeves, as ours fits us great. Are you maybe comparing the sleeve lengths to those with the KUHL thumbloops, which make sleeves a bit longer? Anyway, at 5ft9" and even proportions,I wear a size Large Spyfire Hoody and I personally have found the sleeve lengths to be correct. Perhaps you'd want to send yours in to have it measured. We could replace it if it doesn't meet specs. Thanks.

Just came via order today. Love it gave it a 5 because this thing is amazing aesthetically and fits very well. 6' 170 and the L is perfect. You forget it is on and it's super comfy. As said, I gave it a 5 because it just looks, fits and feels amazing. The hood is awesome as well. However, there could be some tweaks ... For my liking at least. Not a fan of the elastic at the bottom, as it tends to ride up. The elastic on the sleeves also ride and tends to not be glove friendly. There are lots of pocket options, but reinforced pockets would be better for me, as I'd be afraid to have keys in them. Awesome product though. Can't wait to abuse it here in canada. I also bought the kuhl parachute jacket and would give that a 5 as well.

I abuse pants and tops working outside.\nI recomend this for People spending a fair amount of time in situations where there's abrasion involved. The leggings on the men's most relaxed fit can be broaden a bit from the knee down. Hip look! Love the gusseted crotch for freedom.
