Name: Robert Wray Age: 44 Location: Austin, TX Favorite thing to do other than riding a bike: Riding motorcycles, herding kids, drinking coffee, eating red licorice What's your most memorable ride? A ride in Seattle in mid-90s that turned from rain to snow with about 40 miles to get home and ended with me frozen and walking the last couple miles OR a road ride from SLC to Heber and back where I cracked like an egg the about 10 miles from home, got a flat tire, chucked my helmet into the freeway in a childish temper tantrum. If you could ride anywhere in the world for a week, where would you go? French Alps or Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu in Southern California Who inspires you? My mom - she's had Parkinson's Disease for 20+ years. And Levi, Horner, Jens Voight, Tinker Juarez. They're all older than dirt but still taking names and kicking ass. Do you have any bad habits? What are they? Only eating bagels, red licorice and drinking black coffee. Watching "the Voice" What is one biker stereotype that you embody? That you stray far from? I embody the skinny biker climber dude at 6' tall and 150 lbs. However, I can't climb to save my life. I spend as much time on my Harley as my bike. Favorite gear innovation you have seen? Needless to say I didn't get my drivers license for a while. Make a question up all by yourself and answer it. From my three year old daughter, "Dad, why is Otis (our dog) licking his wiener?" My answer, "because he can." What's your biggest insight to the amount of riding per week that is healthy for competition? 10 hours of riding per week is the magic number to be competitive. What song that makes you most stoked to ride? Pennywise, "Let Us Hear Your Voice" Favorite food and drink post epic ride? Chipotle Veggie Burrito, Shiner Bock Beer If your life was turned into a movie, what actor would play your role? Viggo Mortensen If a genie gave you three wishes but only five minutes to answer, what would they be? 1. Go to Harvard Law School 2. Win the Tour de France 3. Be the best guitar player in the world Best way to end a first date? Ask her name the next morning. What's your most visited website? cyclingnews.com What's hot?/ What's not? Hot - knee high black compression socks with flip flops. Not - those hideous Giro helmets that look like the Bell helmets from the 80s. What would you do if it was the end of the world tomorrow? Steal a Lamborghini and start driving really fast. Would you rather fail or never try? Epic Fail If you could spend a year doing something that you have never, ever done, what would it be?
