KÜHL Bike Team Bio: Jeff Flick

Jeff Flick jumped around the country before landing in Salt Lake City in 2000. He’s an accomplished ultra runner and member of the KÜHL Masters Cx Team. What’s your most memorable adventure? Running the Wasatch 100 ultramarathon. The training was my escape into the mountains. There’s nothing like being really fit and running for hours in the mountains. The race itself was like a non-stop two week backpacking trip squeezed into a single day. I have to thank my wife and kids for putting up my obsession during those years! If you could adventure anywhere in the world for a week or two, where would you go? After watching cycling’s grand tours since I was in high school, I think it would be cycling some of the mountain stages in northern Italy. Who inspires you? All of my cycling buddies! I see their effort and determination and want to be as dedicated as them! What is your favorite piece of gear? My cross bike: Trek Boone! What’s your worst habit? Spending too much time on the Internet reading about somebody else’s great adventure when I should unplug and get out there myself! What song makes you most stoked to play hard? Springsteen’s Born to Run What’s your favorite food and drink after an adventure? I’m pretty partial to an Epic Brewing Company Spiral Jetty to wash down a brat. Best way to end a first date? It’s been a long time since I had to worry about that! I’ll have to ask my kids. Do you have any pets? Do you take them on your adventures? Jessie is our 5 year old lab mix.  She is a beautiful dog with a lot of personality. She’s my main running/hiking partner. She never complains! What’s the worst injury you sustained from adventuring and how did you recover? I’ve been lucky with no major injuries. My injuries (broken collar bone, concussion, and separated shoulder) all involved falling off my bike. What the fastest speed you’ve ever gone under your own power, assisted by gravity? 57 mph down Guardman’s pass into Park City. Way too fast on a bike! If you could have any superpower, what would it be? To ride a cross bike like Sven Nys! What’s your favorite thing about KÜHL? Their commitment to get people outdoors! The TV and computer can suck the life out of you before you realize it. Just say no! What’s your favorite piece of KÜHL clothing? RYDR pants! A great fit for me. If your best friend already had your favorite piece of KÜHL gear, what would you recommend to him/her that functions just as well playing outside as it does in the bar at the end of the day? The SPYKE shirt looks great. I need to get one for myself!
