One look at KÜHL's exclusive new Spyfire® Vest and you realize it is different by design, construction, and features than any down sweater that has come before it.
The shell fabric is sourced from a superior Japanese mill that uses a high 24 filament 20 denier ultra-fine nylon yarn (for a softer hand feel and higher tear strength). The yarn is then woven into an extremely dense weave that provides both excellent down-proof-ness and increases the already higher tear-strength. The 800 fill (certified non force fed / not “live plucked”) goose down is also body mapped: Different size baffles create superior warmth where you need it, while the smaller baffles reduce bulk for layering under a shell.
The precision 3-D fit naturally follows the body and the intricate patterning and construction eliminate the binding which is typically found on the inside side seams of ordinary down sweaters. You almost forget you have it on, it’s such a natural, comfortable fit.
Four unique fabrics differentiate the KÜHL Spyfire from all others. Each fabric is engineered for a specific purpose. The soft shell reinforced fabric on the shoulders allow you to shoulder skis with sharp edges that would shred any ordinary down sweater. Light weight underarm knit fabric panels provide greater comfort in a wide variety of temperature by allowing heat to escape when you are more active.
The Spyfire features 2 zippered chest pockets 2 zippered hand pockets as well as an inside mesh pouch pocket giving you plenty of options for storing your essentials.
KÜHL has thought out every detail including the custom reflective ribbon that lies just under the zippers that serves 2 functions. First, it prevents the zippers from catching on the ultra-fine nylon fabric and second, and, second, when left open, the reflective yarn on the ribbon creates added visibility.
Built with different sized baffles, the SPYFIRE vest boasts superior warmth where you need it. The precision 3D fit naturally follows your body’s shape, and the intricate construction eliminates binding typically found on the inside seams of jackets.

KÜHL® User Reviews
Got this vest for inside and outside and man it is really comfortable and heat retaining. I don't want to use too much gas heat in my home and wearing this vest really makes things comfortable with the heat down while in my studio. Also for layering while hiking/skiing/about town it is terrific. Used to have the windbreaker Mt. Hardwear and while that is great this is better. I like how it fits under my water proof shell. It is long but with a purpose to keep you warm. So my recommendation, GET ONE! Kuhl is a great company and their designs are true to mountain denizens. Thank you KUHL. (The Renegade Capris are a stable in my dresser drawer as well. Bring those babies in their classic form, please!)

Great fit, very tailored looking. I already have their jacket. Lots of flexibility for easy movement and as their jacket, very light weight. Plenty of pockets.

I have owned most Kuhl products throughout the years and generally consider them to be brilliant. And admittedly, I rarely ever write reviews, good or bad. But with that said, I think I have an educated opinion on Kuhl products... The elastic bottom hem on the Spyfire vest makes it unwearable. It makes the midsection of the jacket stick out way too far. Makes you look pear-shaped instead of looking like an athlete. No bueno. In fact, Kuhl needs to lose the elastic bottom hem from all their tops that have them. If Kuhl wants a product that has an air-sealed waist then PLEASE just include a draw-cord or something else self adjustable. But a top should be able to lay with the shape of your body and move around with it. Tight elastic bottom hems make ANY top look and fit like *******.

I was initially drawn because of the look. The fit was even better. After about 15 minutes, I realized it was the perfect piece as it generated a decent amount of warmth. It's an awesome vest!

This vest is useful all year, amazing quality, comfort, love all the pockets. This vest is so good a baggage handler stole mine from a gate checked bag. I immediately ordered a replacement.
I am an operations manager at a ski area and spend my day both inside and out. tjis vest look great and keeps me warm carrying out my daily duties.
I bought the Spyfire vest, the fit is great and it is just the right weight. I would recommend this as a layering piece. My one comment/complaint is the hand pockets are all but unusable. They are to small to put your hands in.
