Customers consistently praise the Burr™ Jacket for its rugged durability, stylish design, and excellent craftsmanship. It offers a comfortable, athletic fit that accommodates layering, with long sleeves and articulated shoulders enhancing range of motion. The jacket effectively blocks wind and retains warmth in cool weather, making it ideal for outdoor activities, work, travel, and casual wear. Many appreciate its versatile, timeless look that transitions well from rugged environments to urban settings. Zippered pockets provide secure storage, though some mention they are on the smaller side by design. Overall, the Burr Jacket is valued for its quality materials, comfort, and lasting performance.

Burr™ Jacket
It's go-time with KÜHL Burr™ men's jacket. Our most popular fall jacket comes with warm pockets, canvas striped ottoman fabric for durability and performance.
I'm 5'8 and 160 lbs - more on the slim/lean athletic side. I wear 32x32 501's and typically a 40S suit - my chest measures right at 39.5" under my arm pits / my sleeve length is 23.5 inches. In most jackets, I often fall right between small vs. medium (depending on brand). I wanted to get the Burr jacket, so I spoke with Kuhl customer service (they suggested medium based on my measurements). I also read through all the reviews on here and also on other websites - everything was pointing to medium. However, at the last minute, I decided it might be a good idea to drive into town and check out both sizes in person. Luckily, we have several Kuhl retailers nearby. After trying on the Burr jacket in both small and medium, I opted to purchase a size small in gun metal (just the normal Burr jacket, not the lined nor insulated version). NOTE: I normally just wear jeans and a long sleeve T-shirt, so the small size was perfect. If you are between sizes like I am, I would definitely suggest going to a retailer to try on the specific jackets in person. If you do a lot of layering, I would suggest medium, but without any layering (e.g. just a T-shirt on), the medium looked just a touch baggy on me. Another interesting thing I noticed (and reason to go try jackets on in person) is that even among the exact same size/type Kuhl jackets, there can be subtle variations. Sometimes one jacket will have heavier feeling fabric than its exact same counterpart hanging on the rack right next to it. In fact, I ran into two Kuhl Impakt jackets where one was noticeably heavier feeling material, despite it being the exact same size/color/style jacket. So it really pays to try these jackets on in person I think. Overall, I really like the Burr jacket. Here are my thoughts after wearing it: The collar situation on the Burr is a little dicey if you ask me. When zipped up fully, it's a bit too high in the back and can look a little off. Same goes for the front. It's just super high - almost too high and doesn't look great. Short of an absolute snow storm, I don't think I'd ever zip the collar up fully, just because it looks a little off. You know how kids going to school in the cold look when their mom's zip their puffy jackets clear up and they just look like someone blew them up? Ya that look. So no full zip on the Burr collar if you are trying to score tonight. The front pockets are a touch shallow when you put your hands in, but not too, too bad. The jacket shell is very nice material and I love that it's 100% cotton. I'd say it's medium weight - not too thin, not too heavy. I certainly would not describe this jacket as warm. I may go back and buy a lined version of this same jacket, just because the normal version if a bit lacking in the "keeping the heat in" department. I just got back from a walk (granted, just has a T-shirt on under it) and it was barely keeping me warm (temp outside was around 60 degrees F). I've had flannel shirts that were warming... just saying. Zippers are very nice. I think having a breast pocket inside on the right might have been nicer than having it on the left. On the left is "okay" but not ideal. It does have an outside pocket on the right, which is very nice, but I think I'd much rather have pockets I can access with my right hand on the inside. Not sure what Kuhl was thinking... if you are left handed, great. For me, not so great. CONS: The jacket comes with a lot of tags. There is a blue tag on the side seam which has almost a glowing appearance - I cut that off and threw it away. The right shoulder has the Kuhl badge which is just all bad if you ask me; definitely "not cool". It's ugly and cheap feeling and lacks taste or style. To add insult to injury, It's glued on and also stitched on. I cut the threads holding it and peeled it off and threw it into the trash. It left some holes in the jacket material... really wish these companies would give up all the logos all over the place. Thee older Kuhl jackets had a far nicer embroidery logo on them, which I much prefer. All in all, really love the jacket. The gun metal has a nice look and overall the jacket seems quite well made and offers a nice balance between durability, function and light weight. So far everyone who has seen the jacket likes it. The only other small gripe is the paper tag with the push through plastic string thing... I really wish these companies would push it all the way through, so you can remove both ends - instead of having the ripped off part forever inside the lining. Frankly, just attaching your label to the zipper with some thread or yarn would be much nicer and far more appreciated. Anyway, all in all I'm very happy with the jacket, but really wish Kuhl would chill out with the terrible glued on badge non-sense. I was planning on buying a couple more of their jackets, but now maybe one is enough.

The perfect city casual to mountain formal jacket
I have love wearing this jacket, I have a huge jacket collection and this is my go to for a daily driver. It looks fashionable for most mountain gatherings but I don’t worry about about the jacket holding up to my more active lifestyle. The fit is perfect for my build, broader shoulders (44”R in suit jackets) and narrower waist (32”) and I ord...

Best Jacket Ever!
Great all around work jacket. Tough and durable with extreme comfortability. Works great for everyday use on ranch or in the mountains. Comfortable over a hoodie in cold weather, cool enough in 60 degrees!

Consistent Compliments
I have had this jacket for several years now. I think the color is Espresso. It has been on three continents as my all season jacket. In cool summer nights, spring and fall, I wear it with a short or long sleeve shirt. In the winter, a long sleeve shirt and thick sweater. 5'10" and 205" with OG athletic build, the XL works perfect. Now back in...

Great jacket
Stylish, well made, this is my third one. The others have lasted through several years being worn daily in all conditions.
